Birmingham Sign Makers Raise Funds for Charity

Kind Hearted Birmingham Signage Company Helps To Raise Funds For Diabetes UK

A kind hearted signage company has helped to raise over £1,700 for Diabetes UK. Bowden and Dolphin Signs from Birmingham held a charity raffle and managed to raise an impressive £1,770.

The raffle which included some fantastic prizes including passes to West Midlands Safari Park, two match tickets for any Birmingham City league match, a signed Aston Villa football and the chance to be a mascot for the day with Birmingham City in March, was well received.

In addition a Just Giving page was set up and proved a huge success with donators giving generous amounts to the cause.

Jamie Bowden, Director and main fundraiser said: “We are really grateful for everyone who contributed to the raffle and to all those who bought a ticket. We couldn’t have expected to raise such an amount and I am so pleased to be able to hand the cheque over to Diabetes UK who will use the money to continue to carry out its lifesaving research and work.”

The emphasis on Diabetes UK as a charity of choice is not an accidental one as Bowden and Dolphin have first-hand experience of how the disease can affect people. One of the team members at the signage firm underwent a kidney transplant after suffering from the disease for several years.

The charity raffle was a thank you to the staff member’s brother for donating the kidney that has meant an improved standard of life for the Bowden and Dolphin worker.

Joanna Oldfield, Regional Fundraising Manager for Diabetes UK said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support of Bowden and Dolphin Signs. The money raised will help Diabetes UK to continue supporting people living with diabetes.

She added: “Diabetes is one of the biggest health challenges facing the UK today and causes more deaths each year than breast or prostate cancer combined. Diabetes UK receives no Government funding, so support from local organisations is very much appreciated.”

Birmingham firm completes signage deal for FA

A Birmingham-based sign firm is celebrating a contract, which saw its work being televised globally during a football game in August.

Bowden and Dolphin Signs manufactured and installed the signage for the Community Shield match on August 12 – a game that saw Manchester City defeat Chelsea 3-2 at Villa Park.

“The honour of completing this project pleased everybody who had an input,” says Jamie Bowden, director at Bowden and Dolphin Signs.

“If the game was played where it normally is at Wembley Stadium, then we wouldn’t have won the contract. But this year saw the Olympic Games come to London, so we were lucky that Villa Park was chosen as an alternative.”

The FA awarded the prestigious contract for a disclosed amount.

Marketing Manager for the FA Cup, Charlie Boss, said: “I’m delighted by the work carried out by Bowden and Dolphin Signs. The work they installed at Villa Park looked fantastic.”

Bowden and Dolphin worked closely with the FA design studio who create the designs.

Bowden and Dolphin ensured that the manufacture and installation of the signage was completed quickly and that the stadium was transformed into a Community Shield venue.

Birmingham signage firm donates vinyl

Birmingham Signage Firm Helps Local School Get Arty

A sign company based in the centre of Birmingham have been sending their off-cuts to a local school, instead of seeing them end up in a landfill site.

Staff at Bowden and Dolphin Signs, a company that’s been established in Birmingham since 1959, have been collecting their off-cuts of vinyl and donating them to the Art Department at Great Barr School.

Miss Caldecott, Head of Art at Great Barr School, said:

“I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to Bowden and Dolphin Signs for their kind donation.  We have a school production coming up and the vinyl will save a lot of time in creating the backdrops and the scenery.”

Jamie Bowden, Director at Bowden and Dolphin, said:

“We are glad that this costly waste product can be put to good use by the school.  Lots of plastics and vinyl end up in landfill sites, so finding a good home for them to be used will prevent this.”

Bowden and Dolphin Signs manufacture all types of signage including self-adhesive vinyl text.

Birmingham Firms Working Together is a Sign of the Times

Birmingham sign designer and manufacturer Bowden and Dolphin has won a major new contract to provide signage for Yardley’s Swan Centre.

The contract is for the design and manufacture of directional signage to help delivery personnel find their way around behind the scenes, as well as front-of-house signs for the shopping centre itself.

The tendering process involved stiff competition, but Yardley’s Swan Centre decided that Bowden and Dolphin was the right choice.

Yardley’s Swan Centre is just a few miles from Bowden and Dolphin’s premises and the signs will be hand crafted by local Birmingham sign makers.

Andrew Dolphin, Managing Director at Bowden and Dolphin said:

“We were delighted to hear that we had successfully won this fantastic contract. We understand the importance of local Birmingham businesses working together to help boost our city’s economy and create success, despite the downturn.”

Andrew added:

“We have a vast portfolio of experience when it comes to shopping centre signage and so we were delighted when Yardley’s Swan Centre asked us to quote for this project.”
